Urgency Toolkit / Alessandra Pandolfi
29 ott – 2 nov 2025

Urgency Toolkit, the project resulting from a two-month residency at Circolo del Design, part of Earthrise 25 – Design for a Living Planet, is now open.

Based on the thesis that democracy is ultimately a form of design, Urgency Toolkit proposes a tool that enables communities to jointly build new forms of collective norms, drawing on their needs and lived experiences.

The project explores the possibility of reversing the typical top-down approach of laws and decrees, proposing a participatory process in which communities become protagonists in the development of “community decrees” based on real, bottom-up needs. The tool is designed as a replicable model, adaptable to different urban and regional contexts. It uses lightweight and accessible materials, with the aim of combining environmental sustainability and civic transformation.

Urgency Toolkit is the last of eight projects featured in the exhibition “Where to, from here?”, an exploration of the profound (often invisible) connection between design and democracy: an opportunity to question the role design can play in transforming our governance systems, making them more inclusive, accessible, and shared.

From October 29 to November 2, the Circolo del Design will host Alessandra Pandolfi’s project, along with the exhibition “Where to, from here?”, which will run until December 5, 2025.

Alessandra Pandolfi (Rimini, April 20, 2000) is a multidisciplinary designer whose approach interweaves field research, visual languages, and participatory or performative methodologies.

After a Master’s in Social Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven, she focuses her research on the role of design in contemporary governance dynamics, analyzing its impact on rights, collective behaviors, and public spaces. Through situated practices and collective reflection devices, it works on the activation of alternative imaginaries, to facilitate discussion and make tangible complex themes often perceived as abstract or distant.

The Circolo del Design nurtures and spreads the culture of design, helping to strengthen the design system of the territory and promoting connections between the skills of the project and the productive, social and cultural world.
